When I was 18 I visited the Pompidou Centre in Paris, I was completely captivated by a tiny painting by Georges Rouault. It was hung in a massive, airy gallery space with towering Giacometti sculptures all around. I was struck by the power of the intense colour in such a small painting, I couldn’t tear myself away and stood in front of the painting for what felt like an age. This series of tiny paintings fill me with joy, I love finding the compositions during walks through the marshes and playing with colour and pattern in the studio. I hope you enjoy them too.
