1000 Vessel Project publication is the culmination of a 5 year project by artist Sarah Cannell into shifting practice from painting to ceramics. Sarah set herself the challenge of creating 1000 ceramic vessels from a standing start having not used the medium previously. The seed of the idea came out of tiny sketches of pots created in 2016 during numerous hospital visits whilst caring for her son through his childhood Leukaemia treatment.
The project started as a way of surviving through challenging circumstances and has become a physical celebration of creative process, ceramics and surface design. This book will be of interest to anyone who loves creative process, is interested in experiments in ceramic surface design and needs an uplifting approach to dealing with adversity.
Follow this visual journey from the first small, tentative, thrown vessels to the accomplished pieces which have sold worldwide, are represented in established UK galleries and have been a springboard for a community pottery in South Norfolk.
