1000 Vessels Project – Experiments in ceramics, drawing and colour.
In March 2016 I started creating small designs for bowls and pots, thinking about form and surface pattern. Between 2016 – 2020 these small drawings were a very therapeutic act and led to the creation of a pottery studio including wheel and kiln for me to start developing the designs into clay. I began throwing ceramic vessels in July 2021 and have taught myself through an exploration of materials and process. The 1000 Vessel Project has developed as a way of pushing my practice, dedicating the time needed to create forms and experiment with translating my landscape motifs and pattern onto the surface of the vessel.
